1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using ParentPal, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the application. These terms apply to all users, including parents and guardians who use the app on behalf of their children.

2. Description of Service

ParentPalis an educational tool that helps parents check their children's homework (grades K-5), generate practice problems, provide phonics assistance, and track learning progress. The app uses AI technology to analyze worksheet photos and generate educational content.

3. Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You may create child profiles to personalize the experience, but children should not operate the app unsupervised for account management purposes.

4. Subscription & Billing

ParentPal offers a free tier and a Pro subscription:

  • Free: Limited daily usage (homework checks, practice problems, phonics lookups) at no cost.
  • Pro: Unlimited usage for $9.99/month or $99.99/year, billed through Stripe.
  • You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time through Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us for refund requests.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload content that is not related to educational homework or practice
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or disrupt the service
  • Share your account with others or create multiple accounts to bypass usage limits
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the service

6. AI-Generated Content

ParentPaluses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to analyze homework and generate educational content. Please note:

  • AI analysis is provided as a helpful tool and may not always be 100% accurate.
  • Parents should review AI-generated results and use their own judgment.
  • ParentPal is a supplementary tool and is not a replacement for professional education or tutoring.
  • When handwriting is unclear, the AI will flag it rather than guess, but misreadings can still occur.

7. Intellectual Property

The ParentPal application, including its design, code, AI prompts, and branding, is owned by us. You retain ownership of the content you upload (homework images). By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to process it for the purpose of providing the service.

8. Limitation of Liability

ParentPalis provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:

  • Inaccurate AI analysis or grading
  • Service interruptions or downtime
  • Loss of data (though we take reasonable precautions to prevent this)
  • Any decisions made based on AI-generated educational content

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through Settings. Upon deletion, all your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
